Rendsburg High Bridge

The Rendsburg High Bridge is a more than 8,000 feet long (2,486 meters) railway bridge that crosses the Kiel Channel. Designed by Friedrich Voss, the bridge was constructed between 1911 and 1913 and cost around 14 million marks to complete. The railway line that runs across the bridge also ventures through a loop that allows it to service the Rendsburgh station. 

However, the most unique feature of the bridge is the transporter below. Known as the Schwebefähre (suspension ferry), it’s one of the few remaining transporter bridges still in operation. Below the railway bridge are cables that attach to a suspended ferry, allowing for cars and passengers to be transported across the channel.
